We had a cold snap a week ago, so this is the WARMED UP version

today it got down to -3 c so 26f
but I swear the UK air is something else. I grew up in connecticut and utah, and heat and cold just hit different here.

truth. uk houses are built to hold the heat buuuuuut. energy crisis and all that. trying to find the balance between staying warm and managing ever climbing prices is a challenge.

I've lived here nearly 20 years and I still struggle with the cold, soaking wet winters 😝

I assume these are wisconsin beasties that are seen on the regular. they give all wisconsinites a supernatural resistance to cold weather 😝

the annual greason blessing, upon which all wisconsites gather upon a giant wheel of cheese and solemnly approach the beloved greason beasties with a football painted green and an ear of corn. these are silently presented to the beasties and they in turn whisper softly in their ears "uff da or no?", the sacred phrase which grants cold weather supremacy all who hear it breathed through the lips of the greason.

I mean, we've reached the point in the year where I am grateful that I bought a truck with remote start, so I can get the insides toasty before I drive to the store.

And it's only 24F out right now.

In a month and a half, it'll be a good 40 degrees colder than this.

2024's starting off rather chilly over here, according to the current 10-day forecast. Tuesday's currently looking the coldest, with the temperature being -23'C/-9'F at its highest, and -27'C/-17'F at its lowest. The rest of the week is slightly warmer overall, but not by many degrees. The week after that it's letting up a bit, by the looks of it, as current forecast's for Monday the 8th is -12'C/+10'F at highest and -14'C/+7'F at lowest.

Either way, I'll be spending a lot of time under the blanket with a hot drink. Still wishing for that kotatsu...

Dorothea Wow, that's cold. Over the next week here our highs are still below freezing, but we're talking like 28F days, with lows around 18F.

But it's been a mild winter here in Eau Claire so far. I expect the deep freeze is coming, but this may be a mild winter.
