Pokagon!

So Crysta and I went out to see my sister in Maryland, and the midpoint traveling between her place and mine is Pokagon state park in Northwestern Indiana. So any time we go out there, we stay a night at the historic inn and then another on the way back -- and I took some photos. Because why not?

So, yeah, I thought I'd share them.

Kimberlee It's genuinely one of my favorite spots in the world.

Pokagon is supposed to be pronounced Po-kay-gin, but I can't help but say it like it rhymes with Pokemon

pokegon being pronounced poe kay gin is quite possibly one of the most Midwestern things I have ever heard.

where is that stained glass window? that is honestly my fave pic of the bunch.

Kimberlee So Pokagon is the name of a band of the Potawatami, so it's named after them. That's how the staff at the hotel pronounce it (and if it's not clear the G is hard), but I don't know if they're saying it correctly either.

The stained glass window is a part of the historic inn at the park -- it's in the original hotel lobby from before they expanded the building in the 1990s which now functions as a lounge outside the hotel's restaurant.
