So, tl;dr; in advance: had a working just really not go as planned tonight, lol. Made a very sad, unusable poppet.
I was working on making a Scapegoat using Grovedaughter Witchery (pg. 65) as a starting point. I had some muslin laying around for a sewing project, so I decided to take off a just a little tiny square to use to make my poppet and still have enough for my other project.
I have some experience in sewing (mostly creating stuffed pokemon out of felt between the ages of 10-12, and a couple costumes later) but hadn't really worked with muslin much... apparently it frays around the edges, like, a lot. Especially if you're trying to make an itty-bitty poppet out of an itty-bitty scrap.
I kept powering through but then when I went to fill it with rice, before even getting to the herbs, some rice kept falling through it onto the ground and I decided "welp, this is not worth" and called quits.
Later, having dinner with my partner, I brought the crappy poppet to the kitchen and told him the story. I then held the poppet up to look at it again, dry rice dropped into my food. I pushed my food dish away, and then rice continued to fall out of the poppet, bounce off the countertop, and into my food. Talk about insult to injury.
That's probably the first in many workings-gone-wrong that I'm sure to encounter, haha!
