Are you currently studying any languages using Duolingo? How's it going? How long have you been doing it?

I started the Japanese course on December 12th. I've managed to keep up my streak (with one freeze used last week), and I'm almost done with the first section.

How this started is that my brother recently spent two weeks in Tokyo, and while we were chatting about his trip he mentioned he'd been using the app to study the language beforehand. I've used Duolingo before to try and brush up my poor Swedish skills, but that didn't stick... Nonetheless, I figured I'd give it another go, since this time I'd be studying a language I'm actually interested in.

I've studied Japanese before, but that was a very long time ago; for the most part, I've just passively absorbed the language. I can read katakana fluently, hiragana pretty well, and I can recognize a handful of kanji. I won't be having conversations any time soon, but I do feel like I've begun to finally learn the grammar properly.

I started Italian but haven't gone back to it for a while. I really should pick it up again.

I got to unit 5 and even tho I haven't touched it in months, I remember the phrases, grammar, and syntax I learned.
