What's the worst witchcraft book you've ever read?

I was thinking about this month's upcoming BSFW episode, and it made me want to ask: What's the worst witchcraft book you've ever read?

It has to be Alchemy of Herbs. It's about herbalism. I don't even know the actual contents of the book because I stopped reading after page 2 of the introduction, where the author says that she bases all of her practice (that is, her herbal remedies) on the humoral theory of medicine, since that is the framework in which herbalism was developed. YIKES.

(Also, I hope it's OK that I reply to a somewhat old post. I remember it used to be a big no-no, but things seems still a bit slow in here...)

Jason Miller's book on Sex Magic is pretty horrendous. If it wasn't an ebook I'd have thrown it out! I will also nominate Hiscock-Murphy's book on Magical Self Care. So far it's very bland and repeats what we hear across social media when it comes to self care.

I've been trying to think of the "worst" one I've read every since Trae posted this 2 months ago lol. I've read so many books and so many of them are just mid, possibly because I had Kindle Unlimited and had a bunch of them available to read. I think anything that I ran into that I found upsetting/problematic I just kicked out of my Kindle library and sadly don't have a record what those books were... It is a lot easier for me to look through them and point out the ones that actually stood out as good!
Absolutely agree with the Magical Self Care book, it reads super bland and generic-- definitely is in my "mid" pile. I also think I remember seeing that Sex Magic book, kinda eyed it and thought "ehhhh this isn't passing my vibe check" so I'm glad I made the right choice haha!

electricbudgie I think sex magic is always going to be a fraught topic. But, yeah, I got a bunch of books from Humble Bundle and there's a lot of crap that gets through. They are usually not bat properly, just eye roll-worthy. I still remember one about the witch's path, which was basically a guide to what "type" of witch you can be and it felt like a 13 year old wrote it.

Also, am I the only one who has to recite Will-Irma-Taranee-Cornelia-Hay Lin to spell witch/which correctly???

Dr Glowcat I've never heard of that "Will-Irma-Taranee-Cornelia-Hay Lin" mnemonic before! Is it from something or a reference to something?

electricbudgie it's the names of the characters in a comic series. It was huuuuge in Europe and it was under the Disney franchise, so I assumed it had crossed the ocean... guess it didn't o.O

Dr Glowcat OH the show W.I.T.C.H. -- I had to google it, but once I did I remembered seeing ads for it back in the day. But I was in my mid-twenties when that came out, so I'm not really familiar with it beyond the name and the basic premise

Hoh man. Speaking of awful books. I've been picking up some new books and was thinking about seeing for myself how bad the Silver Ravenwolf books are. It's always something I hear about, but obviously have never read them myself, and lately I've been finding it odd how some authors I would find more 'reputable' are willing to acknowledge her?
Anyway I started looking at the 1-star Amazon reviews and man, I don't think I'm ready xD
